Leopard Love: A Designer’s Real-World Review
Practical Notes from the Studio Floor
- Always test in black and white first. Leopard Love’s personality lives in contrast—not color—so if it falters without gradients or overlays, it’ll struggle in real-world production (think embossed business cards or laser-cut wood signs).
- Check both cases. Uppercase delivers bold presence; lowercase offers subtle charm—but some glyphs feel less balanced in mixed-case body lines. I avoid using it for anything longer than three words in sentence case.
- Mock it up early—and on real surfaces. Try it on matte paper, kraft cardstock, and a smartphone screen. I discovered its tight kerning looked cramped on a Cricut vinyl decal until I manually opened tracking by 20 units.
- Compare pairings deliberately. Beside a strong serif font, Leopard Love feels artisanal. Next to a geometric sans serif, it reads modern and intentional. Against a handwritten font? Too much personality competing—unless you’re designing a wedding suite where joyful chaos is the brief.
- Licensing isn’t optional—it’s foundational. Leopard Love is a commercial font, yes—but confirm the license covers your use case: Canva templates, digital products sold on Etsy, printable planners, or client-branded merchandise all have different requirements. I’ve paused projects twice waiting for license verification—and saved myself from a takedown notice both times.
